Over the past several years, we’ve had the pleasure of shooting weddings in many locations including several McMenamins. The buildings are historic and beautiful, hotel rooms are convenient, there’s a big tree or a wide porch to hide under should the weather change and food and drink are available when you want that quick pre-wedding snack or a late night snack. It’s always entertaining to explore these quirky, sprawling campuses.

I went to St. Louis over the recent holidays to visit family and photograph my cousin Meggie marry Grant in a ceremony filled with family and friends. It was wonderful to be a part of the whole thing. While most of the weddings Rob and I photograph are right here in the Northwest, we do travel. We’ve had weddings in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago and Hawaii. We’re not scared to jump on a plane. The end goal is the same no matter where we are: to tell the story.

From the moment I step out my door the morning of the wedding, I am looking for pictures.
That doesn’t end until late that night as things wind down on the dance floor.

Throughout the day, I pay attention to quiet details and also to make pictures of the big events.
It’s my job to produce a record of moments or tiny slices of the day the bride and groom might not have had a chance to see themselves.

I want the couple to say, “Whoa, I didn’t even know that happened.”

Why? Because the bride and groom, while pulled in many directions throughout the day, can’t be everywhere at once. But seeing images later that tell the real story of their wedding day, they will understand that people smiled, people laughed, people had fun even though they were consumed with the layers of obligation.

As time slips by, it’s these images that bring back the great memories of the wedding. And I am most content when the couple tells me, “Thanks. These pictures really say it all.”

We were going to wait for the new year to launch the new site. A fresh start. Resolutions and goals.

But then we decided to go ahead and check something off the list right now…a few days early.

This site will evolve and grow. Take a look at our portfolios. Stop by now and then and read the blog. We will be posting our favorite images from weddings past and we will post new images as we photograph more weddings in the future.

We’re here and ready to book weddings for 2012. That’s a goal and a resolution we’ll be happy to fulfill.
